The only available history involving Greenwich homes deals with the founding fathers, or in this case, mothers. The widowed daughter-in-law of Massachusetts Colony governor John Winthrop, Elizabeth, remarried. A wealthy early American landowner, Robert Feake, married her. Together, they determined to settle Greenwich. This they did, but then a tug-of-war began to determine if the New Dutch owned the area or the Connecticut and New Haven colonies. In 1665, the decision was made that Greenwich would be its own city. Read more about it at www.hstg.org
